About the Health, Safety and Wellness Department
The Health, Safety and Wellness department is responsible for providing advisory services, strategic direction and planning for the workforce health, safety and wellness across all Austin Health campuses. Key areas of responsibility include occupational health and safety management, injury recovery and return to work, workforce immunisation, safety and wellbeing education and training, and the wellbeing program.
About the role
As the Lead Training Coordinator – Occupational Violence and Aggression (OVA), this strategic role will be integral to advancing the quality and risk management priorities of the organisation. You will establish and manage the OVA training program ensuring it aligns with best practices.
A regular day will see you:

Plan, design, and coordinate the OVA training program, ensuring it aligns with best practices and clinical education strategies.

Conduct and oversee training sessions on managing clinical aggression for both clinical and non-clinical staff, ensuring alignment with Austin Health policies.

Continuously monitor, evaluate, and update the OVA training program based on feedback and incident learnings, recommending and implementing improvements.

Work closely with clinical educators and the Health Safety and Wellness team, providing expert advice on managing behaviours of concern and clinical aggression.

Contribute to the strategic direction of the training model, participate in strategic planning, and report to relevant committees on progress and outcomes.
About you
As the Lead Training Coordinator - OVA, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to excellence in employee safety and wellbeing and patient care. You’ll bring energy and drive to your work and have a keen interest in developing your skillset.
To be successful in this role, you will be:

Qualified as a Registered Nurse Grade 4, Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 5, Allied Health Grade 4 or Psychologist Grade 4

Expertise in assessing and managing behaviours of concern and OVA in clinical settings, with a strong understanding of evidence-based practices and relevant legislation.

Highly effective presentation, engagement, and influencing skills, with the ability to develop collaborative partnerships and lead teams across multiple disciplines.

Experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating learning programs, with a focus on continuous improvement and alignment with best practices and organisational strategies.
