About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Accountant to join our Finance Team and support various accounting processes, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable. This is a 3-month contract role, available for immediate start, with the possibility of extension or a permanent position, based at our Bowen Hills Support Office. While the role is full-time, we are open to accommodating your study schedule if needed.

You’ll be joining a fantastic team of eight in a casual and fun environment, working alongside passionate, highly engaged professionals. Success in this role will require strong attention to detail, effective time management, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Reporting to the Accounts Leader, you will also work closely with the Financial Controller and Finance Leader. Key responsibilities include processing a high volume of invoices and payments for both domestic and international suppliers, managing the accounts inbox, handling general office administration, and supporting our offshore team with various accounting processes. This role is ideal for someone studying accounting or finance, or someone with 6 to 12 months of basic accounting experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process / code high volume AP transactions
  • Process / code some AR transactions
  • Manage ABA files and process payments in the bank in accordance with terms (domestic and international suppliers)
  • Maintain supplier terms and account details in our accounting system (NetSuite)
  • Liaise with business leaders for timely approval of invoices and credit card claims through our automated systems
  • Office administration, including collection of mail, ordering of stationery & office supplies
  • Support our offshore team with various tasks including, supplier statement reconciliations, store bank reconciliations and credit card transaction processing
  • Manage the accounts inbox and phone, liaising with our people and suppliers and addressing any queries
  • Assist the Finance team with monthly accruals
  • Assist with BAS (Business Activity Statements) and FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax) reporting
