The Role
Defence Finance Group (DFG) is seeking experienced and enthusiastic finance professionals to join the Navy Acquisitions team for current vacancies in Canberra, Adelaide and Sydney.

The APS 6 Finance Advisor is a customer facing role who will work in a small and dynamic team in the provision of strategic financial advice to key clients, both uniformed and civilian. The Finance Advisor will also assist clients in the identification of financial risks and opportunities, understanding of cost drivers and impacts on capability, and forecasting of End of Financial Year achievement.

Some of the key duties of this role include:

Use business knowledge and financial skills to provide expert advice on Defence and Government financial matters.  Build and sustain effective working relationships with key clients across the Fleet and Maritime domain.  Coordinate financial governance requirements and promote compliance with the financial management frameworks.  Contribute to budget preparations, evaluation of financial performance and general financial management across a variety of budgets and capabilities.  Identify financial issues and apply financial management knowledge to deliver objective and systematic analysis and conclusions.
About our Team
Our embedded teams provide finance support to the Navy Head Quarter and partnered Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group. The recent Defence Strategic Review (DSR) and the 2024 National Defence Strategy (NDS) set out a blueprint to deliver a transformation of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to an integrated, focused force capable of safeguarding Australia’s security for decades to come. The work reflects a comprehensive recalibration of Defence’s priorities with a significant focus on enhancing maritime capabilities.
