: The Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS) is seeking to create a 12-month merit pool of highly motivated and detail orientated individuals to undertake one of our Directorate Liaison Officer (DLO) roles, with the first of up to three roles available from 30 November 2024. The DLOs act as a representational point of contact in facilitating the delivery of a significant program of government business, strategically coordinating actions with JACS and its business units, the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate’s Cabinet Office and Government Business & Coordination teams, other directorates and ministerial offices.
You will bring leadership in exercising sound judgement, an ability to build and maintain effective relationships through a responsive approach, excellent communication and negotiation skills, a sound understanding of government processes, and a high level of organisation to the roles. With support from the JACS Ministerial Services Unit and Senior Director, MSU, you will be able to work under limited direction to be the liaison between a Minister’s Office and the Directorate.

The JACS DLOs support a range of justice and community safety portfolios including the Attorney-General, emergency services, human rights and corrective services. This process will establish a merit pool for 12 months and roles may become available throughout this period. Offers will be made progressively after 30 November 2024 once the ministerial portfolio arrangements are settled after the 2024 ACT Election.
Notes:
Directorate Liaison Officer roles include a DLO Allowance, which is 7% of the fortnightly rate of pay for the employee’s classification calculated on ordinary hours worked in that fortnight, paid fortnightly in arrears. Eligibility/ Other Requirements
Experience with digital records management systems is highly desirable. Experience and understanding of ACT Government Cabinet, Assembly, and machinery of government processes would be desirable. This position may require the successful applicant to either hold or be able to obtain a baseline security clearance.Notes: There are several full-time and part-time temporary positions available from 30 November 2024 for 12 months. These positions will be filled at either the SOGC, SOGB or SOGA level, dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicants.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
