About the role*
The purpose of this position is to ensure the students wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, emotional and social development are supported, to help them actively engage in their education.
The Youth Development Worker will have a focus on early intervention and will have to build relationships with students, school staff, parents(s) or Care Giver(s) and the community to help students prepare themselves to make a positive contribution to society and in their adult life.
Key components of this role are to provide support to targeted young people/ students 5-12, through 1:1 support, wellbeing check-ins and program delivery to improve wellbeing and increase engagement of students.
The role requires exceptional planning and organisational skills and the ability to effectively facilitate group programs. The position requires cultural sensitivity and upmost confidentiality with a willingness to go outside one's comfort zone to enable a better outcome for the young people attending the school.
- Work within the Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) framework to provide information and support to at risk young people, empowering them to make positive and informed life choices.
- Record cases information, complete accurately all necessary forms and produce statistical reports
- Operating in accordance with the quality management system policy, procedures, and manual.
- Undertake necessary administrative tasks to ensure smooth operation of all services.
- Ensure quality assurance and quality management standards are incorporated into service delivery
**About You**
- You have a Certificate IV in Youth Work or Equivalent Qualification
- You have experience in facilitating activities, games and learning experiences
- You have a strong understanding of trauma informed and young person-centered frameworks, as well as child protection legislation
- Strong understanding of, and respect for, cultural and linguistic diversity (CALD)
- Experience building partnerships and networking skills
- A strong understanding of the Targeted Early Intervention (TEI) framework
- Understanding of the barriers and issues faced by vulnerable young people
