**The Gig**
A newly created role has become available for a permanent, full time **Safety Manager** with exceptional communication, proactive safety leadership, and continuous improvement skills to join the business and play an integral part in leading safety across the ongoing operations on site.
With a high value investment supported by local and state governments, you'll also play a critical role in contributing to HSE practices across a community land development project.
Based in Kurnell and reporting to the Chief Operations Officer.
**You'll be trusted with**:
- Developing and implementing safety policies and procedures across the operations side of the business.
- Conducting regular safety inspections to identify and address potential risks, ensuring adherence to regulations
- Collaborating with various teams to seamlessly integrate safety measures into daily operations
- Designing and delivering safety training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors
- Investigating incidents and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommendations for prevention
- Coordinating emergency response drills and ensuring the facility is ready for different safety scenarios
- Managing safety communication to promote a robust safety culture
- Staying informed on industry best practices, technologies, and safety regulations
- Collaborating with external agencies to uphold compliance and engage with industry associations
- Cultivating a culture of continuous improvement by regularly updating safety procedures and seeking employee input for innovative solutions
**What's In Your Toolbox?**
- Diploma in Safety or higher
- Several years of safety management experience, preferably in construction, waste management or recycling
- Hands-on experience in emergency response planning
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and compliance
- Experience managing a small team of safety professionals
