**About the Role**:
We are currently looking for an experienced **Safety Manager** to join our team based on a Major Infrastructure project in Sydney. Reporting to the Safety Director and the Project Director you will be a key manager and will have a high level of understanding in all areas of Health, Safety and Environment. You will be responsible for providing Safety leadership and guidance to this project and deliver initiatives that continue to improve the John Holland HSE culture.

**Key responsibilities of this role include**:

- Develop and administer education and compliance programs for employees, clients, contractors and visitors
- Maintain comprehensive safety records, manage statutory reporting requirements and monitor safety performance progress
- Maintain an update-to-date knowledge of relevant legal, regulatory and company safety requirements, ensuring workplace are informed of relevant changes
- Support the effectiveness of the consultative framework and communicate safety matters to management and staff as appropriate
- Guide and support the Project Leadership Team to develop and implement a safety culture that aligns to the company vision, including adequate development and training in safety critical roles
- Ensure the projects maintains robust risk management processes, capability, focus and discipline related to safety
- Initiate and administer safety improvement, education and compliance programs for workplaces within the region
- Align region and workplace Safety & Workers Compensation strategies with relevant JHG business plans and assist workplaces to implement them
- Investigate all causes of events on site and recommend actions to prevent future occurrences
- Provide specialist support to internal stakeholders including operational leaders, project employees, contractors, clients and visitors

**Shared success means**:

- Excellent interpersonal skills are a must as well as relevant experience in a safety role is essential.
- Experience in the Construction industry is desirable
- A Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent is highly desirable
- Knowledge developing and/or implementing Safety Management Systems or Safety Management Tools is highly desirable
- The ability to interpret project related documents, prepare reports and monitor compliance documentation is essential
- A high level of experience with Microsoft Office and Safety systems is essential
