The Parliamentary Counsel's Office (PCO) is headed by the Parliamentary Counsel and is a Public Service executive agency related to the Department of Premier and Cabinet under the Government Sector Employment Act 2013. The PCO provides a comprehensive and integrated range of high-quality services for the drafting of, and access to, NSW legislation and the giving of advice and information about legislation.

**Key accountabilities**

- Undertake the most complex, sensitive, and urgent hands-on legislation editing and access work, including editorially checking draft legislation, producing final proofs of legislation and updated versions of Bills for Parliament, and updating the legislation database.
- Review the work of legislation editing and access staff, including monitoring knowledge gaps to ensure staff are aware of any process, legislative or style changes and precedents.
- Prepare and deliver training on specific areas of work to individuals or small groups.
- Contribute to keeping documentation and records about the team's work processes and procedures up to date and accessible, including by undertaking relevant project work at the team or office level.
- Supervise a small team providing support to Parliament on sitting nights.
- Work with the Director, Legislation Editing and Access to contribute to project work that develops the legislation drafting and publishing system and enhances access for users of the legislation website, including by testing changes and assisting with the development of project and business documentation.

Please note that some after-hours work may be required, particularly around parliamentary sitting times. After-hours work is managed within the rostering, flexible working, or paid overtime arrangements applicable to the team.
