Thales Australia's Airspace Mobility Solutions (AMS) business is is providing leading edge airspace control and security solutions for the commercial and defence sectors, as well as digital solutions for Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) and Digital Aviation.
AMS represents revenues of over $750 million worldwide and is the global market leader in the space of Air Traffic Management and one of the most credible players in the new UTM space.
With the world airspace experiencing major challenges, airspace is becoming increasingly saturated, new regulations are being put in place, UTM is emerging as a new domain to cover, cyber threat, and is, in addition, facing technological breakthroughs coming from new technologies (agile software development, component based architecture, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, Cloud).

As apart of this AMS strategy we require **Software Discipline Manager **to master ongoing developments and prepare the future in improving its competitiveness, customer and team satisfaction.
The **Software Discipline Manager **is part of the Software Discipline governance led by the Software Head of Discipline and is responsible of people and discipline management.
As a key actor of competitiveness improvement, the **Software Discipline Manager **is in charge to deploy the engineering transformation and develop continuous improvement as well as a culture of innovation.
The **Software Discipline Manager **position is based in Melbourne's CBD in the World Trade Centre on a flexible working arrange.
**The Software Discipline Manager**:
- Contribute to building a clear vision and direction with Head of Discipline in engineering-wide initiatives and communicate to the team
- Contribute to the discipline enhancement plan and support improvements raised by the teams to process and tools in order to boost quality, efficiency and delivery on-time
- Develop innovation and entrepreneurship culture
- Be responsible for the adoption of new technologies linked to our business (Digital tools, Cloud, CI/CD pipeline, containers,)
- Foster collaboration with other disciplines to define multi-discipline solutions with added value
**Qualification**:
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- Proven experience in development of products and projects in a variety of methodologies, with a particular focus on agile development
- Significant experience (5+ years) in managing people
- Experience in safety critical development and associated software assurance is appreciate
- High level of empowerment, ability to engage various stakeholders having different objectives
- Accountability, transparency and curiosity
- A positive attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
- An ability to successfully manage change
