Your new role
Emergency Services Officer (EMSO)
reports to the Field Manager and provides critical emergency response and diagnostic services to ensure the safety and reliability of Ausgrid's network. The role operates on a 24/7 rotating shift roster, responding to network incidents such as storms, bushfires, and other emergencies impacting the electrical grid.
As an EMSO, you will prioritise tasks to maximise productivity and ensure optimal use of resources. This includes replacing Low Voltage distribution fuses to maintain the integrity of the network and keep services running efficiently.
Responsibilities
Provide emergency response and diagnostic services to ensure network safety and reliability.
Prioritise tasks to maximise productivity and efficient use of resources.
Replace Low Voltage distribution fuses to maintain network integrity.
Conduct investigations into incidents (electric shocks, fire damage, HV into LV faults).
Prepare detailed reports and collaborate with emergency services and regulatory bodies during investigations.
Identify non-conformance in customer installations and complete required reporting to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
Qualified in a relevant electrical trade – Cert III in ESI Power Systems (or equivalent).
Qualified Electrical Supervisors Certificate.
Class C Drivers Licence.
Electrical Safety Rules accreditation and other relevant statutory training.
WH&S WorkCover – General Induction.
Basic climbing procedures training.
Proven experience and technical expertise in an electrical trade role within the electricity distribution industry including demonstrated experience in customer installations and testing procedures.
Sound knowledge of relevant statutes, regulations and procedures such as safe working practices, network standards and codes of practice.
Demonstrated experience in the application of safe manual handling techniques.
Competence in the use of basic hand and power operated tools and equipment.
Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical and other problems or escalate appropriately.
