**The Opportunity**

Come and discover the opportunity to join our** **BlueScope Building Components business as our **Research and Innovation Manager**. BlueScope Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products, solutions and services through its four leading brands: Lysaght, Fielders, Ranbuild and Kiteleys.

Our Research and Innovation (R&I) team makes it possible for us to create new and enhanced products and solutions. We can confidently say there are lots of ideas - from customers, our business and the R&I team themselves. And this is where you come in

We'd love to do it all, but the reality is not all ideas are feasible or as promising as others. With a commercial lens, you'll shape our innovation roadmap and stage-gates to strengthen the conversion and prioritisation of the 'right' ideas for our business - quickly validating what to accelerate, preserve or stop.

Of course, we can't launch an innovation if it doesn't work in the 'real world', isn't compliant or can't be made at scale. Collaborating across your team, cross-functionally and with industry participants, you'll ensure such considerations are examined - and identify optimised approaches and technologies so your team can confidently, and ever so rapidly, test technical requirements.

Whilst our NATA laboratory is based in **Minchinbury**, after you've had time to find your feet, there will be an opportunity to discuss a **hybrid work arrangement** between the office and home.

**What Will You Do?**

As a leader and conduit for product research and development, you'll engage with others internally and externally to deliver commercially and operationally viable innovations at speed.

You will:

- ** focus on the here and now**:we've already identified some opportunities and challenges within BAU activities that are ripe for the picking to deliver quick and impactful wins
- ** lead and develop your team**: coach and motivate your team to support their engagement, well-being, performance and professional growth
- ** foster a collaborative environment**: embed ways of working that empower R&I to proactively work with cross-functional teams and enable two-way knowledge transfer
- ** take a look at our tomorrow**: finalise and implement our R&I roadmap in alignment with business strategy - with consideration of future market conditions and technologies
- ** champion an innovation culture**:educate your team and others on an innovation mindset, supporting them to introduce learnings and approaches in their own work
- ** source data and intel**: leverage cross-functional teams, industry participants and associations, and publications to seek out intel and guide our innovation pipeline
- ** ensure governance and compliance**: such as defining reinvigorated innovation stage-gates, efficient testing processes and NATA reporting capability
