This role requires the successful applicant to have a driver's licence and attend our Casula office a minimum of once per week, with the potential to travel regionally and interstate.

About the opportunity:

  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of Research and Innovation initiatives, including conducting research to inform initiative validation, creation and implementation, ensuring initiatives are delivered in line with required timelines, outcomes and budgets.
  • Facilitates and contributes to the collection of data.
  • Organises and facilitates inclusive and accessible lived experience groups/panels.
  • Manages required documentation including progress and final reporting.
  • Harnesses learnings from initiatives, working alongside stakeholders to positively contribute to Northcott's future.
  • Acts as a point of contact for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Explores new and emerging opportunities with internal and external stakeholders, including tertiary institutions.
  • Provides day-to-day supervision and guidance to Community Research Officers.

Role Requirements:

  • Strong commitment to the rights of people with disability.
  • Advanced organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise duties.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to produce accessible and inclusive documents/opportunities; craft communications to a diverse range of audiences including people with lived experience of disability, frontline disability workers, managers, and executives; deliver presentations and speeches on initiative-related information; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience within disability/human services sector preferable.
  • Experience in advocacy, with a strong understanding of advocacy strategies.

Typical duties might include:

  1. Project Planning: Develop and document the project scope, tasks, timelines, milestones, and resource requirements. Identify potential risks and include mitigation strategies.
  2. Assist in the tasks required to manage our Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) portfolio ensuring all regulatory requirements are met including up-to-date tenancy agreements.
  3. Communicate and document the project status, updates, and issues to stakeholders and manage their expectations. Organise and lead project meetings, including kick-offs, status updates, and review meetings.
  4. Oversee the allocation and use of resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget for a project.
  5. Implement quality control processes to ensure project deliverables meet the required standards.
  6. Create and manage the project budget, ensuring costs are controlled and expenses are within the approved limits.
  7. Evaluate and manage changes to project scope, schedule, and resources, ensuring that changes are properly documented and communicated. Analyse the impact of changes on project objectives and adjust as necessary.
  8. Ensure all project deliverables are completed and meet the acceptance criteria. Perform a project review to assess what went well, what could be improved, and document lessons learned.
  9. Ensure a smooth transition of project deliverables to the client or end-users and complete any final documentation.
  10. Follow project management methodologies and best practices (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  11. Ensure the project adheres to organisational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications from the fields of social science, research, innovation or advocacy, or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education, training or experience.
  • 3-5 years experience working in the fields of research, innovation or advocacy.
  • Proficient with MS Windows/MS Office Applications.
  • Current NSW Driver's license, including the ability to travel to Casula office once a week and other locations as needed, including regional and interstate.
