CSIRO Publishing is a leading Australian not-for-profit science publisher and provides a range of books, journals, magazines and digital content to a diverse global audience.
Our ePublishing team develops, supports, enables and enhances business operations through a range of internal and public customer-facing, production and online digital systems; and the build and integration of new functionality and technology.

As the Digital Systems Officer, you will be responsible for providing support to technical and business teams, for leading improvement initiatives and for investigating and analysing development opportunities. This includes operating the support triage system, sustaining team systems, developing processes and documentation, and developing innovation projects.

This role includes working with the team to support the CSIRO Publishing eCommerce gateway, online digital publishing and XML production workflow and the identification, analysis and articulation of new solutions and opportunities.

**Your duties will include**:

- Under the supervision and direction of the Chief Digital Officer, supporting the operation and maintenance of digital publishing systems and platforms.
- Providing technical support and advice to CSIRO Publishing business areas to ensure business continuity, understanding and continuous improvement.
- Assisting in monitoring business metrics (eg. website traffic, security, 24/7 functionality) and taking appropriate actions as needed.
- Communicating openly, effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO's reputation.

**Location**:Major Australian Cities considered

**Salary**:AU$68,148 to AU$86,733 pa (pro-rata for part-time) + up to 15.4% superannuation

**Tenure**:Specified term of 12 months, full-time or part-time (minimum 0.6FTE) offering flexble working hours

**To be considered you will need**:
Essential
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area such as IT or equivalent experience.
- Experience in RMDBs (Oracle and MSSQL).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and self-starter with proven ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Ability to quickly understand, articulate and analyse business and technical challenges and opportunities and to develop and communicate solution options and requirements.
- Ability to engage with stakeholders effectively to understand challenges and opportunities and to provide advice and support. Proven ability to work both independently and effectively in a team environment, proactively collaborating, consulting and sharing resources to accomplish objectives.Desirable
- Experience in software development role within an operational environment.
- Experience with web development, Java, Python or ColdFusion.
- Experience in preparing technical documentation such as user guides, technical specifications.
- Demonstrated experience in supporting the continuous improvement of web technology and service offerings.
- Publishing experience or understanding are desirable but not essential.
