**What's the role?**
Are you passionate about politics? Do you thrive on breaking news, delivering sharp analysis, and capturing the pulse of Australia's political landscape?
With a Federal Election just around the corner, Sky News is looking for a dynamic political reporter to join our award-winning team of journalists in Canberra.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ **Report on Federal Politics** : Deliver live updates, attend press conferences, conduct interviews, and write news packages for broadcast under tight deadlines.
+ **Live Coverage** : Broadcast breaking stories at short notice while coordinating effectively with the news desk and technical staff.
+ **Build Contacts** : Develop relationships across political and stakeholder groups to uncover and verify stories.
+ **Legal and Ethical Compliance** : Ensure all content meets legal standards, consulting pre-publication lawyers when necessary, and adhere to company policies.
+ **Collaborate with Leadership** : Take direction from the Canberra Bureau Chief and contribute to smooth production workflows.
+ **Versatile Reporting** : Cover a range of political and regional stories as required.
**Who are you?**
+ Passionate about politics and have a good working knowledge of our political scene
+ Ability to report in both a live and non-live setting
+ Write and prepare clear and concise news packages
+ Ability to generate original news stories
+ Excellent organisational and interpersonal communication
+ Outstanding research skills
+ Sound editorial judgement
+ Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines
+ Flexible work schedule and understanding that this is a 24/7 newsroom that may require you to work early mornings/nights and weekends
