Motion Design Director

We're looking for a Motion Design Director to join our Creative Services team in Melbourne on a 6-month parental leave contract
About the role.This role is responsible for leading KOJO's Motion team in Melbourne, combining creative leadership with operational rigour, ensuring our team produces standout work that delivers results for clients across sport, entertainment, tourism, and retail.This role requires:Experience in broadcast or sport stadium environments.Non-traditional hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends and public holidays.
KOJO schedules remain flexible and transparent so working hours are managed on a rolling basis with rostered days off pending timings of events.Role OverviewLead and manage KOJO's Motion offering, ensuring high quality and consistency across all creative outputs.Act as a key creative leader within the department, collaborating with stakeholders (int. & ext.) to deliver impactful stadium content, broadcast design and motion projects.Work across both 2D and 3D motion design projects, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained and project deadlines are consistently met.Supporting team members, fostering a high-performing, values-led creative culture.Drive creative excellence in conjunction with the Creative Directors across motion graphics, editing and animation, and lead storytelling approaches that align with brand, campaign and business objectives.Be commercially minded to track time and profitability of work by partnering with producers and client managers to effectively run and debrief projectsManage and guide the creative development process – from briefing, ideation and to delivery.Work with Studio Producer to ensure creative briefs are clear, processes are followed, and delivery timelines are met.About you.You are a creative leader with 10+ years of experience in the video, motion or post-production space.
You're passionate about storytelling, visual craft, and delivering real outcomes for brands.
You've led teams, worked in dynamic agency environments, and are confident working across a wide range of formats and sectors.You bring:Creative leadership and team management experience, fostering collaboration, innovation and accountability.Advanced skills in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro and Cinema 4D.Deep experience across the full production pipeline – from concept development through to post-production and final delivery.Proven ability to deliver high-quality creative outputs under pressure and to deadline.Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills – able to work with internal teams, clients, vendors and freelancers.A strategic approach to resourcing, workflows and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.Strong problem-solving ability, adaptability, perseverance and sound decision-making skills.Experience delivering work across stadiums graphics for clubs, leagues and brands, broadcast packages and socials.Experience with 2D and 3D motion design environments with a focus on high volume of output.About KOJO.KOJO is an award-winning Sports, Experiences and Entertainment company with a big, hairy audacious goal: captivate the world.At KOJO, we blend strategy, creativity, production and technology to craft the perfect moments where the story or experience completely consumes you.
