Overview
Data Governance Analyst ( Power BI ) — Sydney Hybrid
An established and fast-growing organisation is seeking a Data Governance & Strategy Analyst to drive the development and implementation of enterprise-wide data governance, management procedures and best practices.
This is a key role in shaping the organisation's evolving data strategy and ensuring data is treated as a valuable and strategic asset.

Key Responsibilities for the Data Governance Analyst ( Power BI )
Lead and promote an organisational understanding of the role and value of data
Define and implement data governance policies, data management procedures, and quality standards
Identify and support the types of data captured across the organisation
Monitor adherence to governance frameworks and recommend improvements
Collaborate with architecture, security, and platform teams to ensure data solutions are aligned with governance best practices
Support business units in developing meaningful reports, dashboards, and data-driven insights
Promote best practices in data visualisation, stewardship, and metadata management
Ensure large and complex datasets are structured, accessible, and actionable
Required experience and qualifications
Proven experience working with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure)
Strong skills in Power BI and data visualisation
Exposure to Git, Python, SQL, and XML
Demonstrated commercial impact through past data governance and strategy projects
Solid understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance obligations (e.g., Privacy Act)
Experience with data management tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview or similar)
Familiar with industry frameworks such as COBIT, ISO 27001, GDPR, DMBOK, or ISO 42001 for AI/ML governance
Skilled in metadata management, data lineage, and quality assurance
Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, IT, or related field
