Join Mareeba Shire Council's Communities team and support our community to be disaster prepared and more resilient.
The Role:
The role of the Community Recovery & Resilience Officer is to enhance resilience in the community by developing and implementing community development initiatives and programs.
Specifically, the planning and implementation of a Community Resilience Network (CRN) and undertaking broad community education and awareness raising to increase levels of disaster prevention and preparedness in the community.
This is a temporary, full-time position to 31 March 2027 and is funded under the Queensland and Australian Government's Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
What You'll Do
Undertake community disaster education and awareness
Implement and deliver a Community Resilience Network (CRN) to support disaster operations and recovery
Assist communities to rebuild and recover after a disaster
Implement community development initiatives and programs to enhance resilience
Build strong relationships with key agencies involved in community recovery
What we are looking for:
You will be a natural at connecting with others with experience in:
Community development and capacity building
Collaborating and negotiating outcomes with a diverse range of stakeholders
Public speaking, facilitation and training
Project management and reporting
You will also need to be tech-savvy with the Microsoft Office suite and have experience in disaster management operations.
What we can offer you:
Temporary, full-time position until 31 March 2027
LGOA Level 5/1 – $89,573 per annum
Mareeba Allowance of $2,080 per annum
Work/life balance – 19-day month
5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading
