**Catastrophe Research Analyst**

Our Analytics team offers clients industry-leading catastrophe management, actuarial, rating agency advisory, and risk and capital strategy expertise. Whether working side-by-side with brokers on risk transfer products or engaging on broader analytical and modelling engagements, our 400+ specialists around the world consistently deliver innovation and thought leadership to clients.

Our local Analytics team (based in Sydney and Auckland) offers catastrophe management, consulting, and actuarial services for clients across the region. We are a multi-disciplinary team of geo-scientists, catastrophe modelers and actuaries.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated, analytically minded individual to join our successful and expanding operation as a Catastrophe Research Analyst.

**What the day will look like**
- Collecting, manipulating, and interrogating spatial and tabular data for use in risk-based pricing products related to natural hazards.
- Performing geospatial and scientific data analysis on natural hazards across Australia and New Zealand.
- Analyzing client data to assess the exposure of a company to natural hazards
- Communicating results to internal and external stakeholders
- Engaging stakeholders through the management of specific projects and programs of work.
- Developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

**Skills and experience that will lead to success**
- Advanced experience with SQL Server data manipulation and analysis.
- Advanced GIS analysis skills (ESRI and/or QGIS).
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant field of study: Natural Hazards, GIS, Physical Geography, Earth Science. A postgraduate (MSc) is preferred but not essential.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Self-discipline to manage own workflow and deadlines with excellent communication capability.
- An understanding of the local (re)insurance industry is an advantage
- An understanding of catastrophe loss models is an advantage
