**The opportunity**

As a Catastrophe Modelling Research Analyst, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our organization's understanding and management of risks associated with natural disasters. You will be responsible for researching, analysing, and modelling various catastrophe scenarios, providing valuable insights that will contribute to informed decision-making processes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an existing research/data science/actuarial background looking to develop their skills within the Catastrophe Research space.

**Your new role**
- Conduct catastrophe model validation for a range of external model vendors and internal models for peril regions around the globe for perils including: earthquake, flood, hurricane, cyclone, severe convective storm and bushfire perils
- Conduct climate change research and development projects and implementation in catastrophe modelling processes.
- Manage projects in a timely and efficient manner in collaboration with global teams and external service providers.
- Assist with catastrophe event response and other ad hoc tasks as required.

**About you**
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role alongside a PhD, Master's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Physical Geography, Meteorology, Flood Engineering or Atmospheric Sciences.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in programming languages (such as Python or R), and GIS software skills
- Experience in the insurance, reinsurance, or risk management industry is a plus.
- Experience using catastrophe modelling software (e.g., RMS, AIR) is a plus but is not required.
- Experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Mapping would be advantageous but is not required
