**About our opportunity**
Working closely with the Wellbeing and Safety Manager, you will support the ongoing **quality and assurance** of current and new Wellbeing and Safety Management systems at council. We will also look to you to provide quality and professional advice for the W&S Team and business units in **regulatory compliance, internal and external audits**.
You will be an essential part of the team to support deliverables around organisational systems review and development, driving and **improving the methodology behind managing safety**. You'll also:
- Support the business units to develop, monitor and maintain internal assurance, systems of work, focusing on **work as done**.
- Gather data and analyse for reporting and improvement.
- Lead the development of and facilitate annual internal assurance and audit programs, systems, processes and initiatives.
- Monitor and report on internal and external recommendations and corrective actions - including those from Safety Committees, Event Learnings and external sources.
- Liaise and manage external auditing including monitoring and managing Corrective Actions.
- Support the W&S team to develop output measurables and KPIs and provide assurance that deliverables are monitored and met.
- Monitor and review W&S Team functions to ensure quality of output and compliance.
- Provide due diligence monitoring and training to ensure the annual due diligence checklist is completed.
**About you**
We are seeking someone experienced in **conducting complex WHS audits**, reviews and providing value adding advice in respect to governance, internal controls and risk management, and ready for that next challenge
You will bring substantial experience in understanding how to construct systems of work as done into assurance, **interpreting WHS legislation**, and have a proactive workflow management style to ensure **audits are scheduled and completed within timeframes**.
With a strong **analytical mindset** and exceptional interpersonal skills to quickly build those quality working relationships throughout the organisation, you will quickly become a valuable member of our team.
In addition, you will have:
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy, and excellent analytical and research skills for conducting risk based internal audits.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in WHS legislation, codes of practice, applicable Australian Standards and industry guidelines, monitoring compliance to applicable laws, regulations, requirements and standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of programs and the ability to develop proficiency with Council's corporate systems such as TechnologyOne.
