Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Science Analyst on a contract for 10 months with potential extension.

**Position Overview**

Support the Office of Water Science in leading the Australian Government's efforts to improve understanding of the water-related impacts of coal seam gas and large coal mining developments. The OWS provides secretariat and technical support to the IESC, which advises the Australian Government regulators on the water-related impacts of coal seam gas and large coal mining development proposals. OWS also supports the department in assessing the water-related impacts of development projects more generally.

**Responsibilities**:

- Supporting the IESC the development of their advice by providing technical support and analysis
- Attending and presenting at IESC meetings, workshops, symposiums and field trips
- Analysing scientific data and information and provide scientific advice on projects for the department
- Meeting with project proponents and supporting departmental officers as required, including site visits
- Leading the analysis of scientific data and information and provide scientific advice on projects for the IESC and the department
- Oversight of IESC-initiated research projects
- Completing administrative tasks, as required, to ensure smooth operational procedures
- Supporting the department and divisional executive to deliver the outcomes, objectives and key result areas of the branch and OWS
- Significant interstate travel, including to remote locations, is required as part of this position
- Other tasks as required
