Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an Indigenous Australian Success Educator to join Oodgeroo Unit, Indigenous Australians, Chancellery Division.The Indigenous Australian Success Educator partners with Indigenous Australian students to implement effective learning strategies to ensure they progress through their degree programs and complete successfully.
The position works closely with the Indigenous Australian Senior Success Educator in conjunction with Student Success and Teaching Advancement Unit and speciality Faculty Student Success teams to identify at risk students and develop targeted programs and communities of practice to support success for Indigenous Australian students.We're offering this role as a hybrid position as part of QUT's commitment to embracing the opportunities created by a more virtual and connected world.About UsQUT is a major Australian university with a global outlook and a 'real world' focus.
We are an ambitious and collaborative institution that seeks to equip our students and graduates with the skills they will need in an increasingly disrupted and challenged world.Established in 1991, The Oodgeroo Unit is QUT's Indigenous Australian student success unit, providing admission pathways and support for Indigenous Australian people.The Oodgeroo Unit is responsible for and committed to ensuring pathways to higher education and the academic success of Indigenous Australian people.This includes;assisting Indigenous Australian people to enter Universityproviding our students with academic, personal, and cultural support throughout their degreeproviding a visible cultural presence at QUTpromoting real world opportunities for our students.Our main administration office is located at Gardens Point campus, with facilities at our Kelvin Grove student centre.
On both campuses we have computer labs, places to study and work with tutors, and places to meet with other students.All Oodgeroo Unit staff are required to work across both campuses.
The Oodgeroo Unit is situated within the Chancellery Division - Indigenous Australians Portfolio.
.What You Need To SucceedEducation, training or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a relevant degree with at least four (4) years subsequent relevant experience.Proven success working with Indigenous Australian peoples and their communities, with an emphasis on supporting students' academic, cultural, and personal success in higher education.Demonstrated understanding of the barriers and challenges faced by Indigenous Australian students, and proven experience in providing culturally responsive academic advice and support across both face-to-face and digital platforms.Demonstrated ability to analyse student data and engagement indicators to monitor progress, identify students at risk, and deliver tailored academic advice.Demonstrated ability to build effective, collaborative relationships with students, academic staff, and other support services to provide personalised academic advice.Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to liaise across diverse stakeholder groups and contribute to inclusive decision-making in support of student retention and wellbeing.Demonstrated organisational, case management and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritise work, along with the proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team, apply initiative, exercise judgement, prioritise objectives and deliver results.Life at QUTWe're Committed To Building a Culture That Fosters Connection Between People And Purpose.
