Your responsibilities
As a Paralegal Officer you will :
Provide administrative support to child safety officers and prepare court documents (e.g., affidavits), in consultation with and under the direction of the child safety officer and/or senior team leader.
Prepare court documents that demonstrate high-level written communication skills, are well-structured, objective, clear, concise, and meet the required standards of both the department and the court.
Access, understand, and use information held in departmental information systems competently when preparing affidavits and other court documents to support applications for child protection orders.
Support senior team leaders in completing requests for information needed for affidavits supporting applications for child protection orders.
Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with child safety officers and senior team leaders to ensure court documents meet legislative requirements.
Work as part of a team to support child safety officers in meeting rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
Identify and communicate key issues promptly to the senior team leader that may impact task completion.
Contribute productively as a team member to foster culturally appropriate, professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Engage in continuous learning, training, and professional development to keep practice knowledge and skills current and evidence-based.
Participate in continuous quality improvement strategies.
Your mandatory requirements
Hold a Blue Card issued by the Queensland Public Safety Business Agency.
Possess a driver's licence, as travel between Child Safety Service Centres is required.
Accepted licences include: "O" (open), "P2" (provisional green P plate), and "C" or "CA" class driver's licences.
While not mandatory, a good understanding of legal and/or court processes is desirable.
