The Community Development Officer position is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and driven individual to join our dynamic Community Development team. As a key player in this team, you will lead initiatives that address both immediate and long-term community safety needs within the community, empowering residents and organisations to take an active role in shaping their future. Using a strengths-based approach, your efforts will contribute to fostering a community where everyone feels safe, included, and connected.
Through open, inclusive, and genuine collaboration, you'll help drive sustainable change by:
- Facilitating partnerships with key stakeholders, from local organisations and residents to businesses and government bodies, ensuring that community safety is a shared priority.
- Leading community safety initiatives designed to reduce crime, increase public confidence, and enhance the overall perception of safety within Mandurah's neighborhoods.
- Supporting the development of grassroots projects that empower individuals and groups to address local safety concerns, build resilience, and strengthen social cohesion.
Your commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes will directly contribute to the City's vision of a thriving, secure, and engaged community.
**Experience in areas such as community safety, crime prevention, and designing innovative, evidence-based solutions to safety challenges is highly desirable.**
**About you**
Our Place and Community Directorate is looking for a passionate and skilled person to become part of our fantastic team. We are looking for people who will:
- Develop and establish sustainable partnerships and networks with key stakeholders to;
- Build community capacity
- Build community cohesion
- Develop community connectedness
- Develop and implement a range of community initiatives with a focus Community Safety
- Develop community safety initiatives and responses to increase resident's and business' perceptions of safety
- Have a range of strategies in your toolkit including; project planning, evaluation methodologies, strong networking abilities, excellent communication skills and the desire to deliver quality community outcomes.
**What can you bring to the team?**
To be successful you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Criminology, Social Science or other relevant disciplinary
- Significant experience in a contemporary community development or related role
- Current National Police Clearance
- Current C (unrestricted) Licence
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable)
- As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to complete a drug and alcohol test.
**The finer details**
This temporary part-time (19 hours per week) Level 5, **5 year contract** position attracts an annual salary of $87,623 to $93,338 pro-rata depending on qualifications and experience. The span of work hours across a working week is open for negotiation.
