Our aim is to improve relationships and reduce stressors for inmates/transferees, so they feel cared for.

We are seeking a capable and motivated Safety & Wellbeing Specialist to support the team at Parklea Correctional Centre.

Our Safety & Wellbeing Specialist is to safeguard the company by ensuring that work health & safety and injury management practices are compliant with relevant legislation, safety management system policies and procedures, and associated standards that affect our business. This includes the applicable Acts and Regulations and Workers Compensation legislation.

**_ Some of the Safety & Wellbeing Specialist responsibilities are to:_**
- provide advice to leaders and their teams ensuring full understanding of workplace health and safety common law, legislative and policy duties responsibilities and obligations, and provide appropriate information and resources
- support the National Manager and Lead, Safety & Wellbeing, in developing and providing strategic direction, advice and support on WHS policies, operational standards, guidelines and planning in consultation with Divisions to embed and promote a safety and health conscious culture
- in conjunction with the National Manager and Lead, Safety & Wellbeing, drive the development of systems, standards and guidelines on hazard and risk management, particularly complex, high-risk issues that cannot be resolved at an operational level, to ensure the Company's risk exposure is minimized
- contribute to the implementation of frameworks, initiatives and processes across the Company which underpin the effective management of incidents and injuries in the workplace and rehabilitation of injured workers consistent with our Safety Management Framework
- engage frontline staff and managers to embed our Safety Management Framework and help to build a positive safety culture
manage a productive relationship with the insurers and claims managers to ensure accurate and complete claims costings, providing regular and adhoc reporting on statistical information relating to premium calculations, claims costing and estimates for Workers Compensation and Injury management cases to minimize costs to the Company
- partner with business units to provide advice and support to understand both their safe workplace obligations and the frameworks, tools and legislation to support them and their teams to mitigate physical and psychological risks
- assist in the development, implementation and continual improvement of workplace health and safety and rehabilitation programs, policies, and procedures to ensure proactive regulatory and statutory compliance
- develop accurate and timely reports for the leadership team that measure safety performance against key targets including incident trends, injury reduction and education
- work with the National Manager and Lead, Safety & Wellbeing to develop and facilitate targeted WHS education and awareness sessions that focus on key organisational WHS risks.

- experience in a similar safety role, including implementation of programs and policies to ensure legislative compliance and the development of a safety culture
- conceptual, analytical, and strategic problem-solving skills with the ability to support the development and management of workplace health and safety strategies and frameworks
- knowledge and ability to contribute to the development of a safety strategy that empowers managers to engage in a positive way, to facilitate cultural change in workplace health and safety in a large, complex, multidisciplinary organisation
