Overview
Associate to the Honourable Justice Craig – Court Services Victoria (CSV) is seeking a legally qualified person to commence in September 2025.
The date will be confirmed in the application process.
The role supports the Honourable Justice Craig in the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria, handling general commercial and corporate matters including contract, equity and trusts, franchising, insolvency, corporations and partnerships, commercial torts, class actions and urgent duty judge matters.
About The Role
The Honourable Justice Craig undertakes a wide variety of general commercial and corporations matters within the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria.
A genuine interest in commercial law is essential.
The successful applicant will have a strong academic record and exceptional research skills.
You will be highly organised and able to liaise efficiently and professionally with members of the legal profession, the Court, and the public.
You will gain invaluable experience across the Commercial Court and closely observe the work of a judge and counsel.
Duties Will Include
Undertaking high level legal research;
Assisting with the production of reasons for judgment, papers and presentations, including proofreading and editing;
Drafting Court orders;
Performing administrative tasks, including managing the demands of Judge Managed Lists;
Acting as chambers' first point of contact, liaising with other judges, Court staff, the public, the media and the profession; and
Undertaking the duties of an Associate in court – electronically and in person, including communicating with practitioners, opening and closing the court, swearing in or affirming witnesses and interpreters, and recording and maintaining a repository of documents and exhibits.

A very strong academic record with excellent research skills;
An ability to communicate clearly and concisely;
Strong attention to detail;
Excellent time management and organisational skills;
A strong interest in a career in the law.
