Anderson Horticulture Pty Ltd is a tissue culture-based integrated laboratory and nursery production facility, based in Duranbah, NSW. Anderson Horticulture has recently been given the sole rights to produce the world's first Tissue Culture produced rootstocks. We are looking to employ an enthusiastic Laboratory Technician to join our team.

The responsibilities of this role will primarily include working with our tissue culture team and may include performing other general laboratory duties. We are specifically looking for someone with a positive attitude and a strong interest in growing and caring for plants in a production environment. Ongoing training will be provided.

**Key Duties**:

- Preparing media for plants in the tissue culture.
- Sterilization of media and cleaning used tissue culture glassware.
- Report to the supervisor at the end of the week to meet targets.
- Day to day maintenance and appropriate use of a range of scientific equipment.
- Actively participate as a member of a multi-skilled team, building effective working relationships with team members.
- Adhere to the Company's code of conduct, including principles and practices of employment equity, ethical conduct and workplace health and safety.
- Record keeping and attention to detail.

**Key capabilities**:
To determine your suitability for the role, you will be assessed on the following key capabilities that link to key duties for this role:

- Basic knowledge, understanding and ability to conduct work in the area of plant tissue culture.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and perform activities as directed by the project leaders to achieve results within a specified time frame.
- Ability to work in a calm, efficient and well organized manner under pressure and with mínimal supervision.

**Essential Requirements**:

- A diploma or degree in a relevant science stream with subsequent experience or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- A positive, enthusiastic attitude and a genuine interest in plants.
- An ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- An ability to take direction and work well within a team.
- Previous experience is encouraged but is not essential.

This is a casual position offering rostered hours Monday-Friday, working up to 24 hours a week negotiable. Work will fluctuate dependent on production requirements.

**Salary**: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Rotating roster

Supplemental pay types:

- Performance bonus
