About the Role
We are currently hiring for an Infrastructure Designer on a Max Term contract in our Pier St, Perth Office Location, This position is responsible for the Planning and Design of the Vocus Fibre network.
What you'll do in this role
As the Infrastructure Designer your responsibilities will include;
- Provide sales with pre-sales designs and estimate cost for connection requests and bids
- Plan Optical fibre paths utilising multiple assets including third party leased assets and civil construction including but not limited to new connections, capacity upgrades, network extensions, relocations and cancellations.
- Plan Optical fibre paths for all fibre circuits, including but not limited to new connections, capacity upgrades, network extensions, relocations and cancellations.
- Create plans to the designs created.
- Comply with and monitor Safety In Design Concepts whilst designing the Vocus Fibre Network.
- Manage fibre records across the national network
- Creation of splice schedules/designs for allocation to Workforce and contractors
- Provide direction as appropriate to the Workforce and contractors on carrying out allocated tasks
- Provide various reports and other duties as requested by management
- Ensure services are delivered within times as specified
- Assistance in fault situations during core business hours
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders strategically to extend the Vocus Network
- Provide support to new Technology introductions.
- Plan and design new Technologies onto the Vocus Fibre network.
- Upload and update data in Vocus spatial and record keeping systems to align with completed construction, upgrades and delivery projects as requested
- Proactively identify possible improvements to systems and processes
- Involvement in implementation of improved systems and processes
- Ensure regular updates are supplied to Department Seniors and Management
- Participate in regular meetings as appropriate
- Assist Fibre Operation Teams as appropriate

About You
To be successful as the Infrastructure Designer you will have the following skills and experience.
- Previous experience in telecommunications in a similar role
- High level of experience planning out projects
- Good computer literacy
- High level experience using Microsoft software and GIS based systems
- Previous experience with Connect Master is desirable
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- High level of customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Negotiation, conflict management skills
- Previous experience in telecommunications infrastructure deployment
- Ability to obtain NV1 Security Clearance or have an existing NV1 Clearance is desirable
