**The role**
This newly created role is responsible for ensuring our Payroll processes are simple, efficient and compliant with industrial instruments and legislation and consistently applied by the team. Reporting to the Head of People Services, you will lead a small team of passionate payroll professionals and support them in their ongoing development.
**Key responsibilities**- Foster collaboration amongst the team, sharing wins and successes, motivating, and supporting team members to strive for on-going excellence.- Develop and coach the payroll team to increase knowledge and ensure activities are completed accurately, in a timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures- Oversight of group payroll of circa 1,500 employees (up to 2,500 during harvest season) on a weekly pay cycle- Ensure payroll related policies, procedures and processes are compliant with relevant legislation and changes implemented effectively- Ensure audit and internal controls are in place and monitored to reduce errors and remove the need for manual adjustments- Support the payroll team to provide prompt resolution of employee and stakeholder queries- Ensure payroll is processed accurately and reflects requirements of enterprise agreements, tax and superannuation legislation- Ensure accuracy in employee records, payments and reporting in line with business and statutory timeframes- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through people, process and systems- Provide input into future state design for technology solutions
**Skills and experience**- Minimum 5 years' experience in end-to-end Payroll processing in a medium to large enterprise- Minimum 2 years' experience in Payroll management including leadership and development of payroll team members- Demonstrated knowledge of ATO requirements and guidelines for taxation, superannuation and related matters- Demonstrated experience with time and attendance systems (SAP / UKG / Kronos Workforce Dimensions preferred)- Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of industrial instruments, employment contracts and employment legislation to ensure accurate payroll processing- High level of attention to detail and commitment to delivering outcomes in a timely manner- Excellent organisational and planning skills- Continuous improvement focus utilising collaboration and stakeholder engagement to achieve outcomes- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
**Desired**- Certified Payroll Specialist or other accreditation- Advanced knowledge of SAP HCM Payroll / SF Employee Central Payroll
