We an exciting opportunity for a values-driven Children's Ministry Assistant, reporting to the Corps Officers at Geelong. This position is responsible delivery of the mission of Geelong Corps through the facilitation of specific children and family ministry, in an integrated setting.

The Children's Ministry Assistant is responsible for the mission and ministry to children (0-14years) by planning, co-ordinating and delivering:

- Sunday school with ages as agreed in corps plans
- All age worship components
- Related activities to encourage and support children
- Participate in worship leadership as required and coordinate children's involvement and participation in worship

This is a permanent part-time position, 7 hours per week.

You will successfully
- Work with related programs, event and fund-raising as identified (e.g. Life Engaged)
- Guide, train, and support volunteers
- Identify, develop and mentor emerging leaders from within the groups and wider congregation
- Assists the Officer(s) and other leaders to ensure that the Corps is a child safe environment and that the relevant policies and procedures are implemented
- Undertakes related pastoral care and discipleship activities
- Fosters positive communication and relationships with parents of program participants.
- Links new families with the ministry of the corps
- Supports the reception function when present in the office

You will have
- Extensive and active involvement in church children's ministries
- Certificate IV level in ministry or demonstrated equivalent relevant experience, knowledge and skills is desirable.
- Must complete compulsory training or other requirements required by state legislation with regards to children, vulnerable persons, and privacy
- Maintain ongoing personal development and undertake suitable ongoing training opportunities if they arise (in consultation with the Corps Officer(s).
- It is highly desirable to be an active member of The Salvation Army, preferably as a soldier
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
