
Economic Strategist

The Treasury plays a key role in providing advice to government policy makers on fiscal and economic matters. The team is responsible for preparing key documents, managing Special Deposits Accounts, and monitoring the financial performance of NSW.
They also partner with various agencies on capital reporting, asset management planning, and capital investment plans, while issuing public sector guidance on budgeting requirements and collaborating on precinct development proposals and projects.
As an Assistant Policy Analyst, you will contribute by providing high-quality advice, project management, research, and analysis to support policy development, budget processes, and government decision-making. You will work closely with the team to communicate the budget process across Treasury teams and assist with process improvement initiatives.
Proactively building robust relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders is essential, as is your contribution to improving the delivery of outcomes across the NSW Government through effective communication and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing high-quality advice, project management, research, and analysis to support policy development and government decision-making.
- Communicating the budget process to Treasury teams and assisting with process improvement initiatives.
- Building relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, accounting, finance, public policy, or a related field.
- Post-graduate, professional work experience in policy, research, accounting, finance, or other analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to consider differing perspectives to support policy advice.
- Ability to work collaboratively and as part of a small team.
