Lead Education Specialist
This is a key leadership position that oversees the Learning Diversity Team and all department services at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Learning and Teaching Team to ensure inclusive education that supports each student in achieving their full potential.
The Lead Education Specialist advocates for and works with staff to ensure the needs of diverse learners are met, including highly able students, students with learning difficulties, students with disabilities, and students supported through funding.
This role includes teaching as negotiated with the Principal and requires delivering contemporary and effective learning opportunities that meet the needs of all students and align with the College's Strategic Plan.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide proactive educational leadership for students with diverse learning needs.
Lead staff in continuous improvement in learning and teaching for diverse learners.
Collaborate with the Deputy Principal Learning and Teaching to sustain focus on whole-school learning.
Support staff in delivering inclusive, contemporary learning opportunities.
Engage with families and external agencies to support student participation and progress.
Manage a teaching allotment as negotiated with the Principal.
Key Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated capacity for proactive educational leadership of students with diverse learning needs.
Highly developed skills in leading staff in continuous improvement in learning and teaching, particularly for students with diverse learning needs.
Commitment to Catholic Education and understanding of charism and spiritual tradition in an order-owned Catholic school.
Knowledge of contemporary educational research, issues, trends, practices, and policies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop productive relationships with students, staff, and parents regarding student needs.
Discretion and confidentiality in dealings with individuals and groups.
Commitment to a learning community and the ability to work with all members of the community to enhance learning and teaching.
Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
Experience as a secondary school teacher, with desirable experience as a special education teacher/leader in a secondary context.
Demonstrated expertise in data analysis, testing interpretation, and monitoring student progress.
