Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a Civil Estimator to join our business on the Gold Coast. You will work closely with the Leadership to build a bid profile and help us taregt work, building a pipeline of work on civil projects valued between $2 million and $60 million. Your leadership and communication skills will help you build strong relationships with new and existing clients. You will inspire the team around you, challenge and assist us in taking this buisness to the next level, while fostering a high-performing culture that ensures the delivery of quality outcomes.
About the Role
As a Civil Estimator, you will be accountable for overall tender pricing, strategy and submission on a variety of projects across . You will require/be required to:
Strong communication and negotiations skills – ability to build and maintain relationships with sub-contractors and suppliers.
Work with other senior members of the business to procure future work opportunities.
Tender pricing, including rating of any Bill of Quantities provided
Ensure full scope of work is costed for construction tenders
Prepare schedule of preliminary costs
Provide estimating advice and comparative cost advice for alternatives if offered
Identify risks and opportunities in design and tender documents and explore alternatives in order to ensure the targeted project margin is met or exceeded
Review and critically assess estimates provided by subcontractor pricing
Take the lead role in the tendering of projects across several industry sectors
Preparation of tenders and BoQ's
Completion of tender schedules and submission of tenders
Submission of RFI's
About You - Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering or similar is prefered.
3-5 years' experience in civil estimating
Proven track record in estimating projects up to the value of $2m-$60m.
Solid and proven experience working within commercial construction, quantity surveying or estimating
Extensive software skills in Expert Estimator, MS Excel and MS Project (or similar)
Onsite experience will be considered advantageous
Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
Ability to complete 1st principal take-offs and measurement
Experience in all aspects of the tender process including analysis and reporting, procurement of subcontractors and suppliers and programming of works
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be innovative and creative to promote competitive tender outcomes.
