The Kick-off StoryThe Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has awarded Football Australia hosting rights for the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup.
This marks Australia's second time hosting the event, after previously staging it in 2006, and follows the success of co-hosting the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.You will be part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC), established to deliver the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup in Australia.
This event will bring together 12 nations in a tournament structured into three groups of four, celebrating women's football, multicultural Australia, and legacy outcomes for football and Australian society.Please note that this role is fixed term until March 2026.

Minimum 5 years experience in WHS roles, preferably in major events, sport or venue operationsExtensive knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and standardsProven ability to manage WHS across diverse and temporary workforcesExcellent communication, training and stakeholder engagement skillsA full list of experience, skills and qualifications can be found in the position descriptionResponsibilities General / WHS Strategy and Integration: Develop and embed WHS plans and principles across workforce planning, onboarding, and daily operations.Compliance: Ensure compliance with legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and authorities to align safety practices; provide WHS guidance and support to managers, employees, and supplier leads.Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, audits, and implement hazard controls; lead incident response planning, reporting, and investigations.Training and Communication: Deliver accessible WHS training for staff and volunteers; create clear safety communications, signage, and briefings.Monitoring and Reporting: Track WHS compliance and performance; provide reports to ELT and maintain records of incidents, hazards, inspections, and corrective actions.Procurement: Lead WHS risk assessments and supplier safety compliance in procurement; monitor suppliers' WHS performance and manage incidents linked to suppliers.Crisis and Incident Management: Develop and implement crisis/incident management plans with LOC PMO; provide WHS leadership in the Main Operations Centre and venue incident response.Venues: Integrate WHS into venue operations for bump-in, event, and bump-out; act as lead WHS contact and oversee hazard management and on-site leadership.Other Duties As Required: See the position description linked in the employer-provided resource.Qualifications and Skills Minimum 5 years experience in WHS roles, preferably in major events, sport or venue operationsExtensive knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and standardsProven ability to manage WHS across diverse and temporary workforcesExcellent communication, training and stakeholder engagement skillsFull list of experience, skills and qualifications available in the position descriptionWorking Arrangements Full working rights in Australia; note that sponsorship is not available due to fixed-term nature of the tournamentWorking with children check or state-based equivalentInternational Criminal History Record checks for any country where you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)Out of hours and weekend work as requiredRoles based at Moore Park in SydneyBenefits Flexible Work ArrangementsAccess to National Team Match TicketsPartner Discounts and OffersBirthday and Thank You LeaveHow to Apply Click APPLY NOW to submit your application, including a cover letter and current resume.
