Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for providing shift coverage for production, attending to various breakdowns in the factory and improving the level of service in repairs and maintenance by reducing downtime, improving efficiency and continuity of operations. General fabrication and factory upkeep. This is an all-rounder role and we're looking for someone who is proactive and has the ability to think on their feet.

**About the role**:
We are seeking part-time Day Shift Maintenance Fitter Assistant to join our busy team.

**Tasks and Responsibilities**:

- Perform fault finding on a range of machines
- Ensure that the plant operates with maximum achievable uptime and equipment availability
- Plan work including ordering materials, equipment and carrying out jobs
- Investigate equipment failures and implement improvements
- Assist with the development of preventative, predictive and proactive maintenance schedules
- Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and mechanical schematics
- Adhoc project installation, Fabrication and welding
- Ensure that the site achieves its WH&S and Quality targets.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Trade qualification in Fitting and Turning-highly desirable
- Experience in an FMCG environment preferable
- Routine preventative maintenance experience
- Welding skills - MIG, TIG & Stick
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and mechanical schematics
- A keen desire to improve your skills and to share your knowledge with your co-workers
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
