Grounds Maintenance Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Grounds Maintenance Assistant to maintain the school grounds, ensuring they remain safe and well-maintained for our students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance of school grounds, including mowing lawns, trimming hedges, and weeding flower beds.
  • Ensure playgrounds, sports fields, and other outdoor areas are safe and well-maintained.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing fences, gates, and outdoor furniture.
  • Clear walkways and paths of debris and leaves.
  • Assist with the setup and takedown of outdoor events and activities.
  • Monitor and report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the school administration.
  • Maintain and operate gardening tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and school policies.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of gardening tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to maintaining a welcoming school environment.

To be eligible for this role:

  • You must hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
  • You must be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
  • You must have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education.

This role requires a strong commitment to Safeguarding and child safety.
