**Midwifery Educator - Maternity Services Education Program (MSEP)**
**Fixed Term Position**
**7 Months - 38 hours per week.**

The Women's is recognised as a leader in its field, with expertise in maternity services and the care of newborn babies, gynaecology, assisted reproduction, women's health and cancer services.
The Maternity Services Education Program (MSEP) is a Victorian Department of Health funded initiative provided by the Royal Women's Hospital, Melbourne. MSEP has facilitated pregnancy care and maternity emergency education across regional and rural Victoria for over 16 years. Our vision is to improve clinical outcomes for women and babies through the provision of interdisciplinary education, supportive partnerships and capacity building in rural and regional services.
Our major areas of focus are; pregnancy care, maternity emergency education and Koori Maternity Services. We liaise with the following groups; Department of Health, Health Services, Professional Colleges, La Trobe University, AHPRA, PIPER, Ambulance Victoria, Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) and Koori Maternity Services. MSEP is a flexible interdisciplinary model of online, face to face and hybrid modules than can be facilitated regardless of travel restrictions in place at a given time with clinicians from Level 1 - Level 4 maternity services.
The role of the MSEP Midwifery Educator will be to work alongside the Midwifery Consultant and clinical leaders (midwifery/medical) to further develop and implement this state wide mobile program and CTEME programs. The education program aligns with key objectives for the National Maternity Services Plan 2010, the Royal Women's Hospital strategic plan and DOH clinical governance framework.
**Your contribution**
Your duties will include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Review the content of all MSEP education and investigate options for further education.
- Ensure effective coordination of the program within services participating in the program across Victoria.
- Ensure effective lines of communication are maintained and are customer focussed.
- Ensures responsibility of own professional development.
- Takes reasonable care to protect the health and safety of themselves, fellow colleagues and other staff in the workplace.
**About you**
To be successful within this role you will need to have:
- Division 1 Nurse endorsed Midwife with a current practicing certificate, or
- Registered Midwife with a current practicing certificate.
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in education (or working towards) highly desirable.
- Previous experience in development and facilitation of maternity emergency education desirable.
- Previous experience in facilitating interdisciplinary maternity education highly desirable.
- Current drivers license.
- Ability to travel and attend overnight stays as required supporting program delivery in regional, rural and remote areas of Victoria.

**Influenza Vaccination Requirement**
In line with the Health Services Amendment (Mandatory Vaccination of Healthcare Workers) Act 2020, some health care workers are now required to have their flu vaccination to work in health care. Evidence of vaccination is required.
As this role fits into category A or B of the departments risk ratings, applicants will be required to have been vaccinated against influenza. Evidence of vaccination is required.
