**Job Description**:
Reporting to the Editor, _Brisbane Times_, the position is responsible for the daily editorial output of the masthead, including the management of staff.
At the heart of the job is the shared objective to break news and strengthen the quality of _Brisbane Times_ journalism. The _Brisbane Times_ Digital Editor must ensure content delivered by the masthead resonates both with Queensland and national audiences and meets strategic objectives.
The position is ultimately focused on growing subscriptions and engaged readership as per agreed benchmarks. The position requires strong editing, leadership and organisational skills.
The Digital Editor of _Brisbane Times_ must uphold the values of the newsroom and implement the editorial direction in conjunction with editorial management.
**Day to day you will**:
- Work with the Editor to strengthen the editorial quality of the masthead.
- Lead the news agenda in Queensland
- Drive high standards of journalism and digital execution and story-telling across all platforms.
- Assist in forward planning to deliver ambitious and complex journalism outside the daily news cycle.
- Work with direct reports / editorial staff to create a collaborative team environment which fosters professionalism, ideas, talent, diversity, improved quality and adherence to company and editorial policies and copy flow deadlines.
- Manage the performance of _Brisbane Times_ staff through effective staff management including: recruitment, rostering, performance appraisal, training and developmental needs.
