Digital Content Editor

Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled digital editor to join our news team on a casual basis.
The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of online story presentation and the ability to work flexible shifts across a 7-day roster.
Key Responsibilities:
- Produce and edit digital content (text, photos, audio, video) for news platforms using a content management system
- Ensure stories are accurate, consistent, and engaging through rigorous fact-checking and editing
- Collaborate with publishing teams to deliver timely, high-quality coverage
- Support and mentor junior journalists, providing feedback on writing and publishing standards
- Pitch and generate story ideas that reflect cultural, geographic, and socio-economic diversity
- Contribute to editorial discussions and adapt to a wide range of newsroom duties
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience
- A strong interest in diverse storytelling with a proven ability to build community contacts
- Advanced digital journalism skills with newsroom experience and expertise in online news presentation, distribution, and engagement
- Excellent editorial judgement with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail under pressure
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; able to mentor and provide constructive feedback
- Broad knowledge of local, national, and international news with a clear focus on audience needs
- Proficiency in producing cross-platform content with a strong understanding of media law and complex digital project delivery
