Our Government Relations team collaborates with government entities and policy organizations at local and national levels. We address legislative and regulatory issues that promote the discovery and development of innovative medicines, vaccines, and animal health products while improving and protecting patient access to care.
The primary responsibility of the **Government Relations Manager in this 12 months contract role,** is to drive Australia's engagement with Federal and State Governments to ensure Australian patients receive timely and affordable access to innovative medicines. In this role, **you will build and maintaining trusted relationships with key government stakeholders. You will have strong experience in developing and implementing complex advocacy campaigns.**
The Government Relations Manager position sits within the Market Access and Policy Team and reports to the Head of External Affairs.
**Roles & Responsibilities**:
- You will develop and implement government relations strategy, advocacy campaigns to support patient access to medicines and shape the external public policy environment
- You will advance the company's positions on critical public policy issues associated with the biopharmaceutical sector. You will support the company's engagement with key local, regional and international industry and trade associations
- You should have an excellent understanding of all relevant legislation, government processes, and policies impacting the Australian biopharmaceutical sector.
- You will engage with key internal leaders to inform and update on all relevant policy and regulatory developments, prepare papers, reports, position papers, and other related materials to support engagement activities and campaigns
- You will maintain all necessary systems and documentation following relevant quality standards and ensure compliance and effective external engagement.
- You will ensure all hazards and environmental aspects in their area are identified, documented, assessed, and controlled according to EHS procedures.
- You will be responsible for compliance with legal and other requirements. Help develop EHS objectives, targets, and performance indicators, establishing EHS improvement projects, and reviewing progress.
- You will confirm that employees receive EHS information, instruction, training, and supervision. You will guarantee the compilation of EHS reports as required by senior management, regulatory authorities, and others.
- Ensure scheduled audits and inspections are conducted, and necessary corrective actions are developed and executed.
**Education, Skills, and Experience**:
- You have a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as public policy, law, health economics, or science, with demonstrated experience as a government affairs expert in government, multinational organization, or industry association.
- You have an expert understanding of government and the Australian political process. You have a well-developed network and connection within Federal and State Governments.
- You have hands-on experience of developing and implementing complex advocacy campaigns.
- You can work collaboratively and constructively as a member of cross-functional teams.
- Excellent influencing and persuasion skills with strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills
