**The role**
Palladium is seeking an international development Safeguards Manager, APAC to cover maternity leave from July 2025 to August 2026 on a part time basis (0.6 FTE).
Palladium takes a "Do No Harm" approach in its activities and is continually reviewing and reforming its approach to safeguards risk management in striving towards best practice in the field. We are committed to protecting and safeguarding the people we work and come in contact with from sexual exploitation, abuse or sexual harassment (SEAH), or from child harm, in the course of our work.
The Safeguards Manager, APAC contributes to this priority with a focus on connecting the approach and requirements of DFAT's safeguards risk management with that of Palladium's; strengthening the region's safeguarding awareness, prevention, reporting, response, and continuous learning capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Continue to develop and integrate an APAC donor business safeguards system into the program implementation excellence and program quality assurance functions.
- Understand existing and emerging DFAT safeguards policy requirements and engage actively and objectively with DFAT counterparts to share Palladium experience and trends.
- Ensure safeguarding is mainstreamed into all DFAT-funded programs and ensure that safeguarding risk assessments are conducted & policies and procedures are being followed.
- Identify and support requests for capacity development trainings, coaching, and mentoring for Safeguarding Focal Points within projects.
- Support the investigations process into allegations of SEAH and child abuse linked to staff, partners, and representatives.
- Coordinate and support leaders in case management, investigation, and reporting processes.
- Ensure quality and robust case management and record keeping, including quality reports and documentation of decision-making processes and actions.
- Lead modern slavery mitigation activities and the compilation and submission of the annual Modern Slavery Statement.
- Keep up to date on trends and new safeguarding approaches and share knowledge.
**About you**
You will have experience working in safeguarding and will be able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding prevention, awareness, reporting, response, and continuous learning. In addition, you have a proven track record of implementing safeguarding measures, techniques, and strategies.
Additional key requirements include:
- In-depth understanding of safeguarding in a DFAT-contracting environment.
- Familiarity with international safeguarding standards, and legal and regulatory obligations applicable to donor funded programs.
- Program/project management experience and demonstrated ability to influence and manage change at all levels.
- Technical / business writing skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Coaching and mentoring skills.
