At Mooroolbark College our House System has an emphasis on pastoral care which is designed around a strong belief in students belonging to 'something bigger than self¿, something that values, protects and supports them, with distinct emphasis on the importance of relationships. House offices are located centrally around the Student Wellbeing & Learning Centre of which incorporates the College¿s wellbeing team, First Aid, café and recreational seating as well as the library. Each House consists of a House Leader, two Cluster Co-ordinators, a Learning Mentor and a Pathways Advisor.

With a focus on SWPBS, our College values of respect, resilience, compassion and endeavour are central in all college operations. The teaching and learning program is built on an embedded instructional model incorporating engage, explain, action and review. Whilst our College values span throughout all year levels, Year 7 has a specific focus on resilience, Year 8 on respect, Year 9 on endeavour and Year 10 on compassion.

**Selection Criteria**:
**SC1** Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.

**SC2** Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.

**SC3** Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.

**SC4** Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.

**SC5** Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.

**Role**:
The Learning Mentor position works primarily within the Disability Inclusion portfolio, working primarily with students identified as requiring Tier 2 support.

The College has four Learning Mentors. Each House is allocated one Learning Mentor.

The Learning Mentor position is an integral member of a House Team (House Leader, Cluster Coordinator, Learning Mentor and Pathways Advisor). The position does not have a face to face teaching allotment, however, the successful applicant may be allocated a Connect Group and assist in ongoing school operations.

Role:
Ensure that students with Tier 2 disabilities can access and participate in education and educational activities on the same basis as Tier 1 students.

Focus on inclusive practice at whole-of-school and in-class level.

Assist in strengthening school-wide capacity and capability to deliver adjustments and inclusive practice for students with disability.

Develop more inclusive education environments, with flexibility to tailor support to their local context and the needs of the student cohort.
