Snowy Hydro owns and operates a powerful combination of generation assets, including the mighty Snowy Mountains Scheme, gas and diesel plants, and contracted wind and solar energy. We also provide electricity and gas to about 1 million retail customers through our retail brands Red Energy and Lumo Energy. Snowy 2.0 is Australia's largest committed renewable energy project. This nation-building project will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
We're looking for a Claims Manager to join our Snowy 2.0 team for the management of all contractual claims for the Snowy 2.0 Project and implementing a claim response strategy which meets Snowy Hydro's interests in delivering the Snowy 2.0 Project on time and on budget. The role's focus is on providing strategic management of claims made under the EPC Contract, while working proactively with the Snowy team to identify claim-related risks and provide high-level advice to the Project Directors on the legal and commercial position with respect to existing claims and emerging risks.

**Your key responsibilities in this role will include**:
Preparation of claims, counter-claims and defences to claims made in relation to the project, including ensuring that all contractual processes are followed

Determining the legal basis for claims and defences and preparing working papers and submissions reflecting Snowy Hydro's legal and commercial position

Liaise regularly with contractors' commercial and legal representatives to understand claim positioning and inform claim response strategy

Participate in consultation and dispute resolution processes as required

Oversee the internal Claims Review Committee to regularly review the status of existing claims and make recommendations on the strategic direction

**We're looking for someone with**:
A Bachelor's degree in Law or other relevant qualification (desirable)

Extensive experience as a Claims or Contracts professional

Experience in back end construction law or claims advice in a major project environment

Experience in commercial negotiation and other dispute resolution processes

The ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the legal and project teams, as well as with the relevant Contractor

Strong analytical skills, and the ability to make sound commercial judgments in a complex and fast-paced project environment

Knowledge of EPC and EPCM style of contract models
