**The purpose of the DNA Administration Unit is**:

- Provide ongoing administration to Section 464 of the Crimes Act with respect to DNA samples to ensure Victoria Police's responsibilities are met.
- Provide administrative assistance, including compilation of statistics, preparation of audit lists, procedure manuals, action plans, reports and correspondence.
- The Administrative Support Officer - is responsible for providing a quality administration service to the Biological Sciences Group on behalf of DNA Management Unit, particularly in relation to administrative actions required to ensure effective and efficient administration of person DNA samples taken under s464 Crimes Act 1958

**_Key Accountabilities include:_**
- Electronic recording of records and other details as required by legislation.
- Quality Control of Post-Conviction DNA orders obtained under s464 Crimes Act
- Maintain accurate records, filing systems, data entry and distribute documentation relevant to DNA samples and DNA orders.
- Answer incoming enquiries from customers, providing first line information/advice regarding DNA samples including legislative, Victoria Police policy and procedure compliance regarding DNA samples.
- Maintain, monitor and update online DNA training
- Provide administrative assistance, including compilation of statistics, preparation of audit lists, procedure manuals, reports and correspondence.
- Provide recommendations to management on administrative procedures, as appropriate.
- Provide ongoing administration to Section 464 of the Crimes Act to ensure Victoria Police responsibilities are met.
- Under direction undertake other administrative duties relating to DNA samples, Court orders and support Organisational direction as and if required.**

**_Skills & Experience_**
- Demonstrated experience in performing a range of administrative support duties including the preparation of reports and correspondence, minute taking and basic research activities.
- Appropriate word processing and computer skills including the ability to develop and maintain appropriate work recording and monitoring systems.
- Proven organisational and problem-solving skills and the ability to undertake and complete a number of activities within acceptable timeframes.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to deal competently with senior police members, external agencies and other personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to function within a team environment and deal appropriately with sensitive and highly confidential information and issues.
- An understanding of the customer service requirements of the position and a demonstrated record of strong commitment and achievement in meeting customer needs.
- A proven record of ethical behaviour and a demonstrated commitment to the Victoria Police Code of Ethics and Conduct and the Organisational Values.**

**Requirements and relevant information**:

- Ongoing VPS-2 positions available.
- The position is located at the 31 Forensic Drive Macleod.
- The incumbent must possess a Victorian Drivers Licence and the ability to obtain a Victoria Police Approved Driving Authority.
