CASWA works closely with ACCOs to ensure Aboriginal-led solutions drive systemic change, particularly in areas such as justice, education, housing and child and family safety.About the roleThe Child Safe Senior Project Officer will work with the Child Safe Program Manager and other CASWA team members to implement the Child Safe Community Services Project, in partnership with the Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS), Department of Communities, and other key stakeholders.
This project supports the capacity-building of ACCOs and other community service organisations to embed the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations in a culturally safe and sustainable way.This role is integral to ensuring that Aboriginal community-led child safety initiatives are embedded across WA's community service sector.
The Child Safe Senior Project Officer will provide training, support, and resources to ACCOs, engage with stakeholders, and facilitate child safety implementation in line with Aboriginal cultural values and prioritiesKey responsibilities include:Collaborate with ACCOs, WACOSS and government stakeholders to ensure culturally appropriate implementation of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.Support the implementation of CASWA's Child Safe Community Services Project by building capacity, delivering training, and developing tailored resources for Aboriginal organisations.Strengthen partnerships between CASWA, ACCOs, and sector stakeholders to drive effective child safety initiatives through consultation, collaboration and advocacy.Represent CASWA in strategic forums and champion Aboriginal-led approaches to child safety policy and practice.To excel in this role, you will have:Strong understanding of National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and their application in Aboriginal Community-Controlled settings.Experience working with Aboriginal organisations, communities, and leaders to deliver culturally responsive programs.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in report writing, policy submissions, and project documentation.Ability to facilitate training, workshops, and community consultations on child safety principles.Relevant tertiary qualification and/or professional experience in social services, child protection, community development, or a related field.What you'll get in returnWhile you will face diverse new challenges in the role, you will also enjoy an attractive remuneration package including a competitive base salary of $110,861.61 per annum pro rata plus superannuation.
