**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The Library Services team is responsible for providing a range of library services and programs for the community across Cumberland City Council libraries.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Children's and Youth Librarian responsible for leading innovative outreach programs and services whilst maintaining the children's and young adult library collections specifically for young people aged 0 to 18 years of age. You will develop relationships, engage and collaborate with key stakeholders which involve initiatives for children and young people to develop their literacy, creativity and lifelong learning skills. This role contributes to the daily library operational activities and provides staff supervision to the Children's and Youth Services library team.

The successful applicant will require:

- Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent experience and eligible for Associate membership of ALIA
- High level of interpersonal and customer service skills, with a proven ability to relate to children
- Demonstrated ability to lead a team in a public library environment
- Ability to relate well to children
- Demonstrated high level analytical, investigative and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously whilst managing competing priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks effectively
- Demonstrated understanding of current issues and trends in the library profession, especially pertaining to programs for children and young people
- Experience in collection development.
- Class C driver's licence
- Working with Children Check

**About this role**:

- 1x Permanent, full-time position
- Working 70 hours per fortnight, on a roster from Monday to Sunday. This position has access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement.
- Located at Council's Merrylands and Auburn library however you may be required to work across any of Council's work locations

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,583.78 to $1,821.35 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.
