Public Groups and International
- Melbourne CBD, Sydney CBD
- Ongoing/non-ongoing, full time/part time, $234,160 to $270,902 total remuneration
We are looking for a highly influential and respected senior leader with specialist expertise in corporate tax to lead a dynamic and high performing Advice & Guidance team of around 100 tax technical specialists across multiple sites.
As **Assistant Commissioner, Advice & Guidance Public Groups and International** you'll provide clear and fair public advice and guidance to make the tax system as simple and easy to navigate as possible, giving large business and their advisers certainty when complying with their obligations. You will influence taxpayer and adviser behaviour, and make a real difference to the lives of Australians by contributing to their economic and social wellbeing.
You will be responsible for timely and high-quality advice and guidance on some of the most complex tax matters relating to large business and multinationals, including the interpretation of new measures. This advice will often be related to transactional activity, restructures and demergers, capital management issues, capital issuances and other market sensitive and/or time critical transactions.
In addition to the provision of binding advice (predominantly private and class rulings) you will lead the Public Advice and Guidance (PAG) unit for the Public Groups and International (PGI) business line. The PGI PAG Unit is responsible for governing the development and publication of PAG in PGI and works closely with stakeholders across the organisation to influence and deliver PGI's PAG program.
Your knowledge of the commercial and business environment in which the tax laws operate for public and multinational businesses will enable you to identify patterns and trends, and provide strategic insights about market activity. Your strategic insights will help shape our programs for public and multinational businesses.
Proactively interacting with the community, Government, Treasury, and senior members of the profession, you will engender trust and respect and provide them with the advice and support they need to administer the system with confidence. You'll also support the ATO's external communication of its position on key industry or risk areas, including to the Senate and other scrutineers.
This role may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis in **Melbourne CBD or Sydney CBD**.
