The RoleThe Principal Complaints Officer is responsible for facilitating preliminary complaint processes and reviewing complaint handling processes across the organisation, and conducting high level, complex and sensitive investigations of suspected corrupt conduct which may include investigations into the commercial activities of the department and/or public interest disclosures. This role will also provide authoritative advice and support to Divisions and Commercialised Business Units of the Department of Health in relation to matters of possible and suspected corrupt conduct and Public Interest Disclosures.
The position is also responsible for undertaking audits and quality assurance reviews of the complaints management capabilities and delivering education programs and liaison activities aimed at increasing the awareness of public officials in relation to public sector ethics, corrupt conduct and public interest disclosures reporting and management. In this role, you will be communicating and negotiating with the Crime and Corruption Commission, Queensland Police Service, Office of the Health Ombudsman, Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and other relevant internal and external stakeholders with regard to the management of matters.

The Ethical Standards Unit (ESU) is the Department of Health's central point for receiving, assessing and reporting suspected corrupt conduct under the Crime and Corruption Act 2001 to the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC) and public interest disclosures (PID) under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010 to the Queensland Ombudsman. These statutory functions are delegated by the Director-General.
