**About the team**

The Compliance Branch is part of the Compliance and Enforcement Group (C&E) and is responsible for monitoring compliance with workplace laws, investigating breaches of the Fair Work Act 2009 and taking proportionate enforcement action.

The Compliance Branch:

- conducts strategic large-scale intelligence-based proactive compliance investigations involving fieldwork in high-risk industries, regions, franchises or supply chain networks
- conducts complex proactive compliance investigations into entities and also investigates self-reported non-compliance by medium and large enterprises tracking to high end enforcement outcomes, including litigation
- investigates Requests for Assistance (RFAs) from employees alleging breaches of workplace laws
- manages Enforceable Undertakings and Proactive Compliance Deeds
- manages the agency's calculations function and unclaimed monies function
- manages the agency's online Pay and Conditions Tool.

**Typical Duties**

As an Assistant Director - Compliance and Assurance, you will be responsible for undertaking a range of regulatory functions and will lead a national team of Fair Work Inspectors. The duties of an Assistant Director - Compliance and Assurance include, however, are not limited to:

- Assisting the Director - Compliance and Assurance achieve compliance and enforcement outcomes for Australian workplaces, including agency key enforcement tool performance indicators in accordance with the FWO's Purpose, Corporate Plan and Compliance and Enforcement policy
- Developing and leading the delivery of strategic large-scale intelligence-based proactive compliance investigations
- Leading complex investigations into entities and investigations into large-scale underpayments by medium and large enterprises
- Managing the investigation of RFAs from employees alleging breaches of workplace laws
- Leading large, geographically dispersed teams of Fair Work Inspectors and mentoring, coaching and developing team members to build capability
- Providing strong independent support and advice to the Director - Compliance and Assurance
- Ensuring exceptional customer service and driving innovation and best practice service delivery
- Working directly with Team Leaders to develop and implement opportunities that drive performance
- Preparing high quality communication and reports for stakeholders including the FWO's Enforcement Board.

**Selection Criteria**
- Strong investigation management expertise and demonstrated experience in leading the delivery of regulatory activities.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a large and geographically dispersed investigative team, leading through periods of change, managing performance and in coaching and developing team members to build capability.
- Resilience and the ability to drive the achievement of compliance and enforcement outcomes within set timeframes in a complex and demanding regulatory environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with internal and/or external stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to build capability and enhance strategic awareness within a team environment.

**Desirable Criteria**
- Qualifications in workplace relations, law, law enforcement and/or investigations
- Experience in driving change
- Project management skills
