You will be joining a team led by an Executive General Manager who is both strategic in their vision and execution focused on their delivery of innovative change that positively impacts surgical education programs.
About the role
The role of Principal Medical Educator is to provide strategic leadership in the design, development and delivery of RACS surgical education programs. This role ensures that curriculum, assessment, and faculty development initiatives align with current medical education best practices, regulatory requirements and RACS strategic priorities. A key focus is driving innovation in competency-based training, digital learning and assessment methodologies to enhance the quality and effectiveness of surgical education.
The role of Principal Medical Educator has the following key responsibilities:
lead the development and implementation of surgical education strategies,
oversee curriculum and assessment design,
support faculty, examiners and supervisors in medical education best practices,
ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements,
strengthen stakeholder engagement and external representation,
drive research, innovation and digital transformation in medical education.
This is an individual contributor hands-on role that has scope to expand over time.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, qualifications and experience:
post-graduate qualifications and clinical experience in a medical field.
post-graduate qualification and experience in medical education.
demonstrated experience in developing and/or implementing competency standards.
strong understanding of assessment methodologies, regulatory compliance and accreditation standards.
experience in facilitating as well as training and mentoring educators, examiners and faculty in best practice teaching and assessment methods.
proven ability to engage with all diverse internal stakeholders from non-medical colleagues to executive board members and Fellows to senior consultants.
proven ability to advocate and engage with regulators and government agencies (AMC, MBA, AHPRA,DoH, MCNZ, TWO/HNZ).
